The Silhouette

Small red gingham, smocked tight across the bodice and then released into two deep tiers that fall to the ankle. A narrow band of white cotton lace runs along the very bottom, which is the detail that stops it reading as a picnic dress. The back is shirred and open, the straps are fine, and the whole thing is built for heat. Cotton, no stretch, and nothing that needs thinking about.

Close through the bodice with a high waist seam, then full to the hem. No stretch in the cloth and an open back, so fit is set by the bust measurement. Available XS–L.

How to measure. Measure over light clothing, keeping the tape level and comfortably loose.
Bust — around the fullest part, tape flat across the back.
Waist — around the narrowest part of the natural waist.
Hip — around the fullest part, roughly 20cm (8in) below the waist.
Length — from the shoulder seam straight down to the hem.

Sizing is not consistent between dresses. Each dress in the edit comes from a different maker, so please check the measurements on this page against your own rather than relying on your usual size.
