That is why the cream flowers here read as raised and slightly sculptural, and why the gaps between them are genuinely open rather than veiled. The neck sits high and is finished with its own band of the same lace. Short sleeves end on the scallop the lace makes naturally, so the edge is the pattern rather than a hem. It stops just below the waist.
